Snow Fences

The snow fences industry until now has been dominated by a few select companies. Now with Sno Shield Snow Fence, you can provide the safety you need at reasonable prices. Not only do our snow fences look sharp, they can be designed to hold back the heaviest of snow falls. Our unique Rib Guard design allows us to run continuous plastic tubing through the Rib Guards creating a great looking snow fence system that can be color injected to match the roof color. Snow fence systems are preferred over snow guard systems because they create a wall or barrier all the way across the roof eave.

Snow Fences are Effective

Using a snow fence system is not full proof. The designer of the snow fence needs to take into account the slope of the roof, roof application, area snow loads and the buildings snow load capacity. A common fail point of snow fences is that designers don't compensate for the correct snow loads and snow fence systems become over loaded causing them to fail doing major damage to the roof surface. Standing seam roofs are a typical roof application in which snow fences, also known as snow retention devices, are attached to the standing seam with some sort of pinching mechanism, then a continuous bar or fence is attached to each device on the ribs creating a solid barrier for snow and ice.

Snow fences are a good way to keep snow and ice from falling from roof surfaces, but a well designed snow guard system can work ever bit as efficient. When staggered and placed properly a snow guard system works by keeping snow where it falls as where the snow fence systems allow snow and ice to move down the pitch towards the barrier. It is always better to keep snow and ice from gaining any momentum. It is always good to know how much you want to spend on your snow retention system because snow fences are not a cheap way to go. There are less expensive options out there, but generally speaking a snow fence will double if not triple the price of a snow guard system. A snow fence can be most beneficial when one is trying to limit the number of obstacles on their roof. Most snow fence systems are designed by the manufacture and it is always best to follow their recommendations.
